Clownshoes Classic - Ten Pin Bowling Competition
|
New Clownshoes Comp to Start in New Year |
|
After a long layoff, the Clownshoes Classic Ten Pin Bowling competition will re-open its doors (or lanes) to anyone who's interested. The new comp will start in early 2010 and will be a regular midweek game, possibly the first Thursday of every month (to be confirmed). If you're interested please email elliot [AT] temerity.com.au with your name, age and why the hell you want to play.
If you're coming from interstate, you really need to find a hobby, but feel free to check out airport parking melbourne to look after your car securely and affordably. Actually if you're coming from interstate your car will still be in your hometown, so that's kinda pointless! Still, it's a gratuitous plug for my client who I'm trying to get to the top of google! Let the good times "roll". |

Welcome to Clownshoes Classic |
|
You have arrived at the website for the hottest ten pin bowling competition in Melbourne. Clownshoes Classic was established in 2002 and has grown into the funkiest league in town. Initially known as the Goodfun Games, the Classic has gone from two schoolmates trying to kick each others asses on the hardwood, to a competition featuring 20 players. Playing once a month, these gladiators fight it out in a social setting not disimilar to the Peach Pit on 90210, competing at venues such as Chadstone, Victoria Gardens, Box Hill and even Frankston. New season starting now so get your clown shoes and get ready to bowl!! |

Record turnout for Easter Extravaganza |
29/03/02: Thirteen competitors resisted the temptation of staying home on Good Friday and watching the hit movie 'Beethoven', instead opting to travel down to Chadstone AMF for an excellent night of ten pin bowling. Never before had the Goodfun Games seen such an impressive turn out, with 3 lanes being needed to house the enthusiastic bunch.
From the start, it was promising to be an exciting round, with big named players Elliot, John and Dave battling it out for early supremacy. Dave perservered in game 1 finishing with an excellent score of 176, ahead of Elliot on 166 and John on 149. Ellen (119), Alissa (118) and Sarah (117) were the best of the girls.
Game 2 saw a brilliant display of talent, with 7 players scoring over 130, Dave again leading the way with 188, his highest score of the games thus far. Mike bounced back with a solid 168 followed by Sarah racking up 163. John, Jamie and Elliot were not far behind. The ladder leaders again showed their stuff in game 3, this time Mike and Sarah heating up the most, finishing tied on 162. Dave (149) and Elliot(146) were locked in a battle of their own, whilst Eddie and Kerrie also fared well. John's third game blues continued as he finished off the night in disappointing fashion, his 101 killing any hopes of regaining top spot on the ladder |

The games within the games |
29/03/02: As well as the overall challenge of winning the games, Good Friday's match included several just as important head to head competitions. Dave, Elliot and John were all battling it out to control the top of the leaderboard, and most of the night saw these 3 players focusing on each others scores, rather than everyone else's. Dave's huge 513 aggregate for the night sees his average move up to 156.0, however under the 20% rule he still hasn't played enough games to qualify for the finals, leaving Elliot on top.
With the finals shaping up to be a top 6 affair, Mike, Eddie and Sarah look like competing for the final places in the post season. This was typified by the intense competition between the trio throughout the Easter match. In fact, Sarah and Mike were so closely matched in all 3 games that I'm kinda scared!!!
Game 1: 117-115, Game 2: 163-168, Game 3: 162-162. Could this be a match made in heaven? |

Games hot up in controversial meet |
22/03/02: The Goodfun Games took an ugly turn last night, as heckling broke out on lane 12 at Chadstone Bowl. The culprit of the insults was Games newcomer Steve "Urkel" Adai, the victim, tournament leader Elliot Dean.
The night started poorly for all 6 players, however late surges by Ross and Elliot in game 1 saw them finish with solid scores, the big fella finishing on 153, the chicken on 120. Game 2 saw Elliot's good form continue, as he held off an exciting Tony 'No Longer With Ling" Pang, 160 to 149, with Mike third on 125.
But in the third game the problems started. Sitting on 75 after 5 frames, Elliot was the victim of intense vocal abuse from the rookie Steve, who is clearly yet to respect the Goodfun Games policy on good sportsmanship. The wannabe rap artist constantly mocked the 6'8 ladder leader as he was about to bowl, at one stage coming onto the lane and shouting in his ear from centimeters away. This unsuprisingly rattled Elliot who went the next four frames without success, finishing 2nd on 130. Mike went on to win the game on 145, while Steve (who bowled the majority of the first game using a handle on his ball) simply sat back and laughed. |
